Prawning at The Village

We were at The Village for dinner the other day, Shiu yakiniku. But I'm on something else tonight.

I remember those weekends when school is 'closed' and adults are at home when we wake up after sleeping through the entire morning (:
I remember one of my Uncle(the super good tempered one) would always bring the kids out, driving us to farms, shopping, outdoor carnivals and all. wah really innocent entertainment back then! Erm, so he no longer does that anymore, because.. well the kids obviously grew up, picked up privacy and came up with a new defination for fun.

Guilty as charged.
But one thing I miss for sure is.. prawning!
That's what people call it nowadays anyway. Fishing for prawns, by a pond refilled with them every few hours. But as you know, us singaporeans just love to make some fun outta english and reinvent our own words, so.. yeah prawning it is.

 

I miss the dim lightings, and serenity. Nobody wants to chase their prawns away with noises lol
Missed the straws too. Felt like I was timewarped to centeries ago when people still live in huts! :x

Our first catch! Uncle bth the ZERO on our scoreboard after 45minutes and decides to line in a prawn himself. Caught this poor thing in 5mins tops. Woots~

yupyup these are all effortlessly edited.
I'm not talking about photoshop's lighting edits etc, rather it's the filters, effects, and lens I'm talking about!

Hear my finger goes *taptap* & these photos are generated. It's truly amazing how easy editing is right now! Not to mention convenient! Now I can edit my pics on the go and I tell you.. I am so hooked. I'm taking more pics than ever, & adding in filters. It's like picking up a new skills hehee.

Tsuru Tsuru Tei

Everyone knows that good ramen can be found in The Central.
Marutama & Santouka especially.

I've tried Marutama's, the serving is a little too small for me(I have an appetite of a dinosaur^^), but their ajitsuke eggs are the best! Best I ever had.

Haven't tried Santouka's yet but soon aye!

 

This time I step into Tsuru Tsuru Tei, the name is cho kawaii no? kekes

 

Anyway! We were ushered to one of the limited window seats! *Happy
If only we went at night tho, super good embience ne!

 

Clarke Quey is so beautiful with so much good foooooood~ I can't fathom why it's always nearly so empty..?

Ohh, restaurants are always packed at night tho! Make reservation kays!

Ordered the Black Pig Ramen Lunch set which I thought is reasonably priced, awesome!

 

Priced at $13.80, it comes with the Ramen itself, chicken karaage, salmon sahimi, and salad.

 

The Kurobuta Ramen, voted no.1 ramen in Singapore by Hungrygowhere as boasted on the menu.

Wah the soup is so good! After the meal, I kept telling my friends the pig ran frantically in my mouth & down the gutter wtf -.-
Damn good pork bone stock *swears

 

It IS number 1 in my books, but I'm only 19, so.. I will most definitely will taste better ramen in future!
*Keeping my fingers crossed*

 

Chicken karaage, delicately covered with thin layer of flour(?). Nice (:

I don't take wasabi, I thought the smell/taste is too overpowering it's gross ):

Yx is super dupa kiang please! She can eat half a spoon of wasabi without hesitation, goodness.. talk about stomach of steel!

 

So the lunch set comes with a sizable salad.

 

Which I dig! hahahaa love the sweetsweet strawbies & cherry tomotoes!
The salad sauce is mega yumz too, yx says she can down it all if she isn't that full alr! @_@

 

I ordered an additional egg & Mentaiko, $1/2 bucks I forgot already..

 

The egg is not bad, but is still poles apart from Marutama's!
Marutama's ajitsuke eggs are UNBEATABLE!

How the Japanese do it man... I cannot master the art of cooking incredibly oishii eggs ):
Haih just lool at that drippy egg yolk.. thick and salty it's not even egg yolk anymore! Wait, what am I talking about? Ahh it's very nice FULLSTOP!

 

First time I tried Mentaiko.
I didn't like it. Taste sooooo fishy cum salty & weird!

That's the critic the first time I tried it lah!
I went back again last month, ordered it again(i seriously had no idea why I did) and fell in love with it! -.-

You know how some people just gets on your nerve even when you've just met them once, but after spending more time together you actually became totally cool with them?

Well that's very much like my relationship with Mentaiko too.

 

So on that first meeting with mentaiko, I disliked it so much I attempted using the chicken to cover the unique taste of mentaiko.

 

Mixed it in with the ramen too ><!

 

Now I think it's quite wasted loh cos I love it so much already! D<
